Questions, answered.

Everything people ask about tracking Indian food with Sehat. Short, direct answers. If yours is missing, emailinfo@getsehat.app.

What is the best way to track Indian food calories?

Use a tracker that understands Indian dishes and Indian portions. Sehat covers 1,821 Indian dishes and logs them in katori and roti, rotis, and pieces instead of grams, so you never have to weigh dal at the dinner table. You can also speak your meal in Hinglish and Sehat logs it in seconds.

How many calories are in a roti?

A plain home-made roti is typically 80 to 110 calories, depending on its size and the flour used. A larger tandoori roti or one brushed with ghee can reach 150 calories or more. Sizes vary between kitchens, which is why Sehat logs rotis as pieces and tracks against your own portions in the app.

How many calories are in a katori of dal?

A standard katori of home-style dal is usually 100 to 180 calories, depending on the dal and how heavy the tadka is. Richer preparations like dal makhani or rajma can be 200 to 250 calories per katori. Because recipes differ from kitchen to kitchen, Sehat tracks in your katori and keeps the estimates honest with confidence levels and source notes.

Can I log food by speaking in Hindi or Hinglish?

Yes. Tap the mic and say it the way you would say it at home, for example aaj lunch mein do roti aur ek katori rajma. Sehat turns the speech into text, matches the dishes, and logs the portions in one step. Hindi, English, or the mix in between all work.

Does Sehat understand spelling mistakes and different dish names?

Yes. Search resolves any spelling, so gajar halua, gajar halwa, and gajar ka halwa all land on the same dish. Regional names and common misspellings are handled the same way, so you can type it however it comes out and Sehat works out what you mean.

Is there a calorie counter without coaches calling you?

Yes, that is exactly what Sehat is. There are no human coaches, no sales calls, and no spam, and the app never even asks for your phone number. All guidance comes from Rusty, an AI that works from your own data inside the app.

How does the AI guidance in Sehat work?

Every day Rusty, the AI guide in Sehat, reads your full context: your macros, the medicines you have added, and the blood reports you have uploaded. It then tells you in plain words what to eat more of and what to ease off. It is guidance, not medical advice, and it always points you to a doctor for the medical part.

Are restaurant chain calories in Sehat accurate?

For restaurant chains, Sehat uses the nutrition data published by the brands themselves and marks those items as verified brand data. For home-style and restaurant-style dishes, values are careful estimates that carry a confidence level and source notes. Sehat never presents an estimate as an exact measurement.

Do my progress photos get uploaded anywhere?

No. Progress photos are stored on your iPhone only and never leave your device. They are not uploaded to Sehat servers or shared with anyone. Your eyes only.

Is Sehat free?

Sehat is free to download. Paid plans use transparent self serve pricing shown upfront in the app. There are no sales calls and no pricing hidden behind a phone number.

Where can I download Sehat?

Sehat is live on the App Store for iPhone. Search for Sehat AI Calorie Counter or download it from the link on this site. The Android release on Google Play is on the way, and you can leave your email on the home page to get exactly one email when it is live.

Does Sehat cover South Indian, Bengali, and Gujarati food?

Yes. The 1,821 dish database spans Punjabi, South Indian, Bengali, Gujarati, Kashmiri, Rajasthani, Goan, and more, from idli and avial to doi mach and dhokla. Global cuisines and restaurant chains are covered too.

Does Sehat track protein and other macros?

Yes. Every logged dish updates your calories, protein, carbs, fat, and fibre for the day on one calm summary card. Rusty flags the gaps too, for example when you are short on protein with calories still free.

Can I log protein powder and supplements in Sehat?

Yes. Sehat covers common supplements such as whey protein, creatine, and protein bars, logged in real units like one scoop or one bar. That makes daily protein targets much easier to hit and track.

Why does Sehat log food in katori and roti instead of grams?

Because nobody weighs dal at the dinner table. Sehat logs food the way it is actually served in India, in katori and roti, rotis, and pieces, and converts to calories and macros behind the scenes. Grams are still there as a fallback whenever you want them.
